Orphans and Vulnerable Children
Our role is to assist with infrastructure, sanitation, education, health, feeding, monthly running costs and outreach programmes for orphans who face the risk for hunger, violence, neglect and illness in the Pretoria and surrounding area. #AdoptAnOrphanage
Njabulo Orphanage and Day Care Centre
Owned and operated by Mama Betty Cele at her residential premises, Njabulo is an orphanage and day care centre situated at the Far East of Mamelodi in an area called Alaska and home to 60 children. During lock down, the centre has no income and the kids residing with Betty find themselves in dire need.
The children’s ages range from 6 months – 6 years. Alaska is an informal settlement that is affected by poverty, unemployment, women and children abuse, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy.
The majority of working females in the area are employed as domestic workers and about small percentage work in retail industry while the rest unfortunately unemployed.
Indaba ZoSindiso Orphanage (IZO)
Situated in Danville, historically poorer areas in Pretoria West, is one of our longstanding beneficiaries and home to 21 children. In addition, many kids are being dropped off there during the day by working parents, only to be fetched late at night. Mama Gladness receives little learners from 5 a.m. in the morning and sometimes kids are collected at 9 p.m.
Mama Gladness depends very much on the help of community for the livelihood of the kids and staff. She tells the story of how children are being dropped off by the police for being abandoned, neglected or at risk.
If ever we had to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty! During the lock down period, Ransom has been supplying food on a regular basis.
Mama Gladness is hoping to buy the residential property next to the house for a better quality of life and privacy for the kids. Beds and cupboards were donated by our community.
Kgatelopele Haven Initiative
Situated in Stinkwater in Hammanskraal, Kgatelopele is an orphanage and home to 40 kids that becomes 100 kids through a day-care facility. We have rolled out a feeding scheme and collects toys and clothing from community. Come Christmas, we make sure we throw a good Christmas Party with lots of presents!
We installed a JoJo tank and rainwater is stored to combat drought and provide water for the basic needs.
Malerato Center for Hope
One of our newly adopted projects, Malerato is an Mamelodi, Pretoria based orphanage with 15 children providing care also for elderly. With only 2 bedrooms in the house, they look after dementia patients, which is the only income.
We help with discipline, budgeting, financial solutions, mentorship and training for the management and staff in early childhood development. The most pressing need here is food and clothing.
